From a hired car in a perfect condition to an old vehicle ready for the scrap heap, from customer-orientated service to unprofessional staff, almost everything imaginable came up in this test. EuroTest partner clubs tested car rentals in popular summer holidays destinations. 60 rented cars along with the related service provided by the car rental companies were tested in Greece, Italy, Malta, Portugal, Spain, Croatia and Turkey.
Two agencies scored impressively with ratings of "Very good". But there were also some unpleasant findings. At the lower end of the scale, we find seven car rental agencies with miserable results. Their cars were clearly no longer fit for the road.
All in all, every fifth car rental station failed to make the grade. Most agencies were found to be lacking when it came to service. More than 50 percent of the agencies were given low ratings in this category - this is all the more annoying because, in addition to service itself, this category also focused on contracts and hence on the customer's money.
