PRESS RELEASE
The EuroTAP 2010 results of inspections conducted this spring in 26 major tunnels in 13 European countries indicate that an alarming number of operational tunnels across Europe will not be ready to comply with EU tunnel safety rules when they come into effect in 2014.

Results
26 tunnels in 13 European countries have been tested this year by EuroTAP counsortium. In spite of some positive results, nearly 40% of tunnels did not reach the top grade. Read more about the overall results.

Methodology
Following on-site inspection of the respective tubes, the experts spoke with operators, clarified safety relevant issues and inspected the related documents. Prior to testing, operators were given a data list to record the most important technical tunnel parameters. This data was once again checked on site. Continue here.
